What’s up MetaNerdz! Alyss here with some information about our equipment.
We’re constantly saving money and looking to invest in the channel, and one of the ways we do that is by constantly updating and upgrading our equipment. When we first started making videos we honestly didn’t have any of the things we had today, we had a really tight budget since Freddy had just stopped teaching and we were basically living off of our savings and my paycheck. When we started we actually bought our first microphone used off of craigslist from a kid that was half our age and selling the mic to get a game. We purchased from him a used silver Blue Yeti microphone, which we still use today, an el gato card capture, and an hdmi splitter. We got it all for $80 and made the trade in a walgreens parking lot.
Since this time we’ve honestly upgraded a lot of different things. We’ve upgraded our microphones to 2 Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Studio XLR Microphones which we run off of our portable Zoom H6 Six-Track Portable Recorder which has the perk of being a portable microphone where we can connect another 2 Movo LV4-O2 XLR Phantom Power Lavalier Omnidirectional Microphones. All this gets connected to the PC making for an amazing but compact recording system.
These are just a small overview of some of the equipment we have invested in over the years and the truth is that we will continue to do so. In order to have a thriving channel you have to create content and good quality content doesn’t only include the script and the editing, good sound quality, and good video quality are super important if you want your channel to keep growing. We’ve always felt that our viewers have appreciated some of the investments we made in the past – I know the live streams are a huge difference now that we have lapel microphones.
If you want to see some of the equipment that we’ve used in the past please check out our Amazon Influencer List. We will continue to add all the latest equipment that we invest in and you’ll get to see some of the older items that we used to use. There are some old items that I would recommend to use today for any channel including the Blue Yeti, the reason we changed microphones is because we realized that having two people on the yeti was really complicated and didn’t sound as good as when we use our Audio Technicas.
